What to Do During a Boil Water Notice
If you are in an affected area, the water is safe to consume once boiled.
- Dishwashing: Use disposable utensils if possible. Dishwashers are generally safe if they have a sanitizing cycle (reaching at least 66°C).
- Drinking/Cooking: Bring water to a vigorous, rolling boil for at least one minute and allow it to cool before use.
- Infant Formula: Use tap water that has been boiled once and cooled, or use bottled water (avoiding “natural mineral water” if possible due to high sodium levels).
- Personal Hygiene: Use boiled water for brushing teeth or gargling. Adults can shower or bathe as long as no water is swallowed. Children should be supervised carefully.
