On August 4th 2023, Irish Water issued a boil water notice for parts of Co Louth due to operational issues and unsatisfactory chlorine levels in the Blakestown Reservoir. This means the drinking water quality entering parts of the Ardee WSZ which are fed by the Blakestown Reservoir have been affected.
If you are worried about the safety of your water supply, one of the safest solutions is to boil the water before drinking it. However, another solution to improve the quality of the water is to install a water filter system.
